Now Available At The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Shop, August 30th, 2016

Here are pics of work dropped off at The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia shop in downtown Halifax today.  I'm super excited to have some pieces here again!  These are all from previous firings, though the pics were taken this afternoon at Cable Wharf on the waterfront with Amos Pewter in the background.

Lidded Vessel: crow with nest of three baby crows

Four larger figurines:

Polar bear, snowy owl, bunny

Puffin

 Smaller figurines:

Buffalo

Turtles

Sled dog

Two crows, which made me think of a Local Xpress article about the soon to be opening if it hasn't yet Two Crows Brewing Company pub downtown which looks super cool.  The articles mentions a "One [Crow] For Sorrow" nursery rhyme I had never heard of before!

Rooster

Polar bear and brown bear

Two bunnies

Snake

Barn owl and beaver

Bowls!  All of the pieces in this group are white mid fire stoneware, as with all my functional ware, these bowls are foodsafe.  They are also technically dishwasher safe, although handwashing is recommended.

Large crow bowl

Two rabbit bowls

Snowy owl bowl

Suffolk sheep bowl

I'm still working away on a kiln full of new stoneware sculptures and functional/sculptural pieces, including some new designs, coming along as soon as possible!

Now Available at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Shop, September 2nd 2015

Here are some pics of stoneware pieces from my last firing that I dropped off at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Shop in downtown Halifax last Friday (August 28th).

It's just a few pieces since most of this firing went to Jenny Jib in Lunenburg, but I'm working on the next firing already.  Time to make Christmas ornaments!

Two black bear bowls:

Four sheep bowls:

A rabbit bowl:

And a fox mug:

These 7 figurines are in the smaller size that I've begun making - which is probably as big as when I first started making ceramic figurines in 2009.  So these are back down to the $15 price point, where I started and I'll be making lots more.  Unlike my earlier figurines I now use stilts when I can to glaze the bottoms of things.

Now Available at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia gift shop, May 13, 2015

Here are pics of some figurines and bowls that I dropped off at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS) gift shop in downtown Halifax on Wednesday May 13, and here's the same album on Facebook.

The AGNS has a great shop with a wide selection of Nova Scotian made craft, such as pottery and jewelry.  And it's always open to anyone, whether you're visiting the gallery that day or not.  The Teichert Gallery, formerly known as 'Art Sales and Rentals' is a commercial gallery just across the hall and always has lots of great paintings by a variety of Nova Scotian artists to check out which are available for purchase or rent - like the gift shop it is accessible at any time without charge.  There are new shows at the Teichert Gallery every month as well as new pieces arriving every couple of weeks by gallery artists.  Check out their facebook page to see what's new!

One more art plug for another art venue: tonite (Friday the 15th) at 7pm is the opening reception for No Strings Attached - a group show in tribute to Jim Henson at the Dart Gallery.  Yay!  Looks like they have some authentic puppets, thanks to the help of one of Henson's puppeteers, ready for an awesome time!  Here's a clip from Global News this morning with more details. The show runs until June 2nd.

On to the pics: everything is cone 6 stoneware except for the kingfisher which is earthneware.  The bowls are all foodsafe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe though washing by hand is recommended.  Everything is hand sculpted & there for 'one of a kind' though sometimes I work in series.
