This (past two) Week's Favourite Things! Monday November 7th - Sunday November 20th 2016

1.  This Socrates quote:  "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."

2.  This Abraham Lincoln quote:  "We can complain because the rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because the thorn bushes have roses."

3.  Tesla Properties.  This is the title of the proposal we just submitted to CMHC's new Affordable Rental Innovation Fund.  Whether accepted or not it makes me happy thinking about our concept and the proposal was a pleasure to write.

4.   X PRIZE.  Only just found out about this, here is the webpage.  From the X Prize Foundation wiki page: "X Prize is a non-profit organization that designs and manages public competitions intended to encourage technological development that could benefit mankind."

5.  This "YouAreCreators" youtube video: "Be Careful What You Think and Speak...You Will Attract It!"

6.  Another "YouAreCreators" youtube video of a book reading:  "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen.  Here is the wiki page about the book, which was published in 1903.

7.  Youtube video: Dr. Joe Dispenza Align Your Feelings For A New Destiny.

8.  Evgenia Makogon's show of stunning new still lifes "Market Fresh" which opened Nov 17 at The Dart Gallery.

9.  November 14th's supermoon, the closest the moon has been to earth since 1948

10.  Lunentags.  Where my figurines have become more time consuming, and therefore expensive, I've been wanting to come up with a new, less expensive product both to fill my kiln faster and to have more things at lower price points again.  So partway through listening to item #7 on this list I thought up "Lunentags".
Gutentag (German for 'good day') + Lunenburg (which was settled by Germans) = Lunentag.  These are new flatter animal ornaments that double as gift tags.  Their backs will be unglazed so they can be signed with a sharpie or other felt tip pen, great for personalizing.  I have been working away still on a pre-Christmas firing or two and am almost ready to start underglazing.   Photos of works in progress coming soon!
