This Week's Favourite Things! August 11th to August 17th 2014

1.  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 3D.  Wow, really enjoyed this. I love apes! and stories about good versus evil.  And 3d movies are awesome, I don't think I've ever seen one in a theater before.

2. Happy Sushi (Clayton Park) all you can eat dinner special

3. This article: Empathic People Are Natural Targets for Sociopaths - protect yourself.  Wonderful and well written.  I consider myself rather empathic and have googling a lot about this subject this week.

4.  Nazars (the turkish blue glass evil eyes) and Nazar Battus, cool papier mache masks which I only just found out about when I googled Nazars.  I could see both of these things something I end up wanting to play around with in my art practice.

5.  The song "Dangerous" by Big Data

This Week's Favourite Things! August 4th - August 10th, 2014

1.  The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival.  What a nice festival! What a beautiful setting, on top of Blockhouse hill with views of the harbour.  I attended it for the first time ever and caught a few acts on the Sunday night.   All the acts were great.  I especially loved the Albertan mother/daughter and their friend act Traveling Mabels and Acadian step dancing  Bon Debarras and have been enjoying their cds.

2.  The Supermoon! this was playing on Sunday night as well, and I enjoyed reading this full moon meditation advice.  I also love this super supermoon photo my husband took:

3.   Scrap Metal Sculptures made of old Farm Equipment by John Lopez

4. 25 Of The Most Creative Sculptures and Statues From Around The World

4. This whole Abraham Hicks playlist of 29 youtube videos on relationships.  Very good listening for anyone who feels like they might have been inadvertently knocked off their "high flying disk".

This Week's Favourite Things! July 28th - August 3rd, 2014

1.  The Annual Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival.  Wow.  Why had I never been to this event?  It is great! I had no idea how popular it was, people fly in from all over and start lining up at 8am for the 1 day event in Lunenburg that starts at noon.  Here's hoping that the festival committee agree with the drawing and painting professor at University Regina who called me a folk artist (I don't think she meant it as a compliment) and I can have a table next year, for my papier mache items at least.

"Chicken Family"

2.   The Music of the award-winning Erin Costelo.  Saw a beautiful concert by her this past Friday at the Petite RiviereVineyards and picked up her latest cd, East Coast Music Awards R&B soul recording of the year, "We Can Get Over" it is great! Here's a cool collaborative video of one of the songs:

3. Fish and Chips from "The Fish Shack" in Lunenburg.  Not every day you get served fish and chips cooked up in the kitchen of a fine-dining chef.  Delicious!

4.  The song "Tain't whatcha do" which I learned is popular background music for "Shim Sham" so I had to look up shim sham:

5.  this Google Talk by Marianne Williamson, "Creativity, Leadership and Divine Compensation"

6.This whole series of videos from a talk on "Manifesting What You Want" channeled from the Pleiadians by Barbara Marciniak
